Draw Near To God

I want to start off by looking at the most obvious Romans 8:32 says he that spared not his own son, He delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with Him also freely give us all things? You may be asking yourself  what all does he give you.

Well go to the word He tells you. Here is a couple to ponder on Salvation,  eternal security peace love etc. So we know by John 3:16 that He loved the world, He gave us Jesus that we might not perish, but have everlasting life.

So we had a God that couldn’t be seen. what does he do? He makes himself become flesh, to come to earth to show us how to live, then freely gives himself up for our sins John 1:14 says the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, “that’s Jesus” (and we be held His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth. there’s that word the only “begotten”,

He bankrupted heaven for us, but not like we do he got it all back. and we get the opportunity to be saved in the process. we are no more in the Adamic nature if you choose to be free, no more slaves to sin John 8:32 says you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. if you truly know Jesus you’re free. all we need to do is separate ourselves from our former lives we lived.

Paul talks about how hard it is but it gets easier knowing that we get to spend eternity in heaven. things of the flesh have to die in order to live. Romans 8:13 says for if you live after the flesh you shall die, but if you  through the spirit do put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live. he tells us clearly this isn’t something we can do on our own we need help.

Jesus died in order to send us the comforter the Holy Spirit. that’s our help. In Romans 8:6 says for to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. notice it’s not just life, but peace.

When it gets hard “turn to Jesus.” a lot of people say it’s easier said than done. yeah starting out it feels that way. but overtime God is constantly working on you, and changing your thinking. it’s a battle,  but it’s not one we fight alone.

Hebrews 12:2 says looking to Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him and endured the cross, thinking little of the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. the little things we go through are small temptations; to show our faith. I like to call them faith testers, just when you think you’re doing OK or got yourself together he, Satan, shows us that’s not always the case. James 1:12 says blessed is the man that endears temptation for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him just to clear things up, our God doesn’t make promises that can be broken. He is not a liar. just to be straight forward, every word that he speaks is truth.

in John 14: 6 Jesus says I am the way, the truth, and the life. no man comes to the father but by Me. so with Jesus claiming the name the truth there can’t be a lie. that means most definitely we can trust him. He is our advocate to the father, let me put it this way, if you’ve ever went to court in front of a judge, and didn’t have a lawyer you know it doesn’t work out for you very well. Just sit back and ask yourselves not only who else can go to the father on your behalf, but who would be righteousness enough to do this but Jesus, it was after all his blood that washes us clean. A lot of people don’t catch this part of life so I’ll point  it out for you.

We have a savior in Matthew 11: 30 , he tells US this ; my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Just what exactly Is he saying? Well it’s this;  so He tells us that being in bondage with him is easy. he also tells us that our souls will find rest. we can’t fight this battle without him.

Ephesians 6:12 we wrestle not against flesh and blood. He clearly points out this is this war. Have you ever fought somebody you can’t see? Leave it to our protector. We have one job that’s to stay strong in faith, hope, love, word while winning souls for our mighty God. it’s him that does the work through you. All credit goes to him. Jesus says in Matthew 4: 19, follow Me, and I’ll make you Fishers of men.

He didn’t mean this just for Peter an Andrew, He meant it for all of us. Here is a really good question to ask yourselves, where are you placing your treasures? Matthew 6: 21 says where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. God uses us to be the light of the world. We are to help the blind see that there is a better life.

Why do you think is so important to honor your testimony? So, others see what God’s doing for you, but we’ve got to live it. Do you honestly think that Paul could go around still persecuting Christians, and expect them to believe him? No that’s the same with us always tearing people apart, then you say you have God in your life.

I’m not great at math, but that doesn’t add up. Matthew 7: 18 says a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit. Neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Once you get to understand this, life will change.  so, once we figure out what kind of fruit you want to produce make a choice. Just a suggestion I would choose Christ. James 4: 7-8 says submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded. (which is Doubters)

if you choose not to draw near to God then you’re going to be afflicted, and mourn, and weep; and your laughter will be turned to mourning,  and your joy to heaviness (gloom).

I want to cover a very important misunderstanding. James 1: 13 let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted by evil, neither does he tempt any man. So, when things get where they don’t seem right go to the Father. Proverbs 3: 5 – 6 says;  trust in the Lord with all your heart , lean not to your own understanding. 6 and all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will or shall direct your paths.

Living a darkened life leaves your thoughts empty or vain. So, to say I know what’s best for me is a lie to yourselves. That’s why we go to Jesus to seek understanding and knowledge and most of all the strength to carry out his choices for us in life.

God will tell you what to do in life. If you look at Acts 9: 4 – 6; to make a Long story short Jesus ask him why do you persecute Me. After Paul / saul asks him who was Jesus said I am Jesus whom you persecute. well after Paul got a an awakening he asked what would you have me do. Notice Paul asked Jesus what do I do. That is a full submission to Christ.

Jesus then tells Paul; arise go into the city and you shall be told what to do. So you see that these were not Paul’s thoughts, they were Jesus thoughts. The only thing Paul had to do was recognize that he, Jesus, was Lord. And God did the rest for him. It’s simple Philippians 4 : 13 says I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. I want to leave you with this thought just take a minute and ask Christ for strength. I’ve heard, even done this myself finding the words coming out of my mouth saying, I wish I had the strength to do this or that , well we all do, it’s in our reach just asked for it. If you ask you shall receive. If you don’t ask then what do you expect nothing, just the same thing you been getting . I asked that everybody bow your heads in prayer.

Praise God in all things, good or bad situations, sake God for your battle, he fights we just believe. God is our blood an atonement.
